this is the kind of song that will give you nostalgia even if you’ve never heard it before
Almost every Gorillaz song gives me nostalgia, even if I have only heard it a few months ago
Idk about everyone, but he only songs from gorillaz that gives me nostalgia is 19-2000, feel good inc and clint eastwood maybe. Rhinestone eyes too
Exactly I remember watching this with my dad and it just makes me so nostalgic. I wanna cry.
I was literally about to comment that
Animator: "So what kind of art style do you want?" Gorillaz: "Yes."
I think it’s been the same art style over the years, but it’s been evolving and adapting to modern times recently
no no no, that is their art style. their art style is yes
@Patched Out___ Cool facts.
best comment no kizzy
@Ricardo Ramirez Martinez translation 🪱
God I remember listening to this and crying while I was living alone, only 20, pregnant and in the middle of college. But I wasn't alone my baby boy was always there with me. I still graduated on time. He just turned 11 last week
Exelente,bien por ti saludos
@LotsaJello obviously not your father because unlike him I’m 6 foot tall not 6 foot under
@LotsaJello who hurt you man?
@wickurrs um yea i dont think you understand how cancer works, cous if hes dead thats exactly what happened he did suffer from cancer his whole life. I would rather he had recovered. This says morw about you than me
Sinto muito 😔
@Djst4rlinG so you would have wanted him to suffer with cancer for his whole life? hm ok then
Gorillaz are one of the greatest bands in music history because they aren't afraid to experiment with so many different genres, animation styles, outfits, stories, and even characters, I think it's part of what makes them such a perfect band
@Levi C. I agree
I honestly think they were not afraid because thats how they started and we got used to all these genres from them unlike other artists who focus on one genre that we got used to hear from then for then for them to change it. The fans would be shoked and angry mabye,some might like it though because they got used to one kind of song
This song makes you feel an emotion that doesn't exist.
@peal no this aint making us feel MMmmmmMMmMMMmmMmM
what joe doin?
It exist if u feel it

I’ve never heard this song and for some reason I feel nostalgic.
Music for how is composed can communicate many emotions .. it means u still have some , good 🤜🤛
The tone seems common so yes
Thats the magic of this song
Its weird that a song I've never heard of before can instantly make me smile and put me in my feels
This sound has legit saved my life on some really dark days. Not just the lyrics but just how it really sounds and makes me feel like I can overcome any hardship I have. I feel so fortunate that they still make music to this day. Thank you gorillaz and thank you Damon.
Gorillaz always make me happy and sad at the same time.

Is the the burger king?

I love this song so much, everything about it is so beautiful and calming. It really helps me when I'm having a bad day or just if I feel bad, it's awesome, and it makes me feel loved, like someone was here, hugging me and comforting me with their words. Seriously, my favorite song in the entire earth. Thanks for existing, Gorillaz.
Pure a me
@YourDinnersReady que-- ñññññññññ
@y a l e🥣 *jokes on you I don't know what it means*
I'm listening this song 10 years later, for fun and pleasure, like 10 years ago, only back then, I was going through a tremendous depression and while listening to it, I cried... Today, listening to it makes me very happy and nostalgic. love!
This is my first time listening to Gorillaz and honestly, I'm not disappointed. It's so good
@sporktheforkHD That's like one of the songs I can't find on you! 😭
wait til you hear story behind everything ITS SO COOL
@𝚂𝚊𝚕𝚟𝚊𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚎 Oh, hello. I don't remember you or even the whole conversation under this song. 😂 My taste in Gorillaz songs has also changed too, but I now listen Blur more than it. From the G group, my current faves are also "Kids With Guns", "Do Ya Thing", "Charger", "To Binge", "Slow Country", "Double Bass", "El Mañana", "O Green World", "Dirty Harry", "Feel Good Inc. (since the song is ACTUALLY awesome)", "Demon Days", Hallelujah Money", "Aries", "The Lost Chord", "The Valley of The Pagans", "Stylo", "Cloud of Unknowing", "Amarillo", "Little Pink Plastic Bags", a song that comes before LPPB since I forgot its name, most importantly, EMPIRE ANTS, and probably any other early Gorillaz song. I'm not much impressed of the Song Machines album, but I'm not saying it's bad; just not my taste. I also began listening other artists with similar or different kind of music, so that's another reason why I don't listen much Gorillaz anymore. Yeah, I found out that you responded to me a year LATER, not that you've changed your Gorillaz music taste, I'm sorry.
@Давид Божић Јовановић one year late, but I like "Kids with Guns" "Clint Eastwood" "Feel good Inc" "El Manaña" "Dirty Harry" "Tranz" "DARE" and "She's my collar" the best
I always listen to this song when I am happy, mad, sad, stressed out, anxious. It just feels like a safe song, a song that takes you to your own reality and you can make it whatever you want it to be. That is why it’s my favorite song, a song that no matter what your going through, it will always come out on top and will help you and satisfy you. Nothing can beat On Melancholy Hill.
Me sigue encantando
My dad and I used to just sit in his car and drive around listening to Gorillaz, Coheed and Cambria, and Circa Survive and just talk. Every time I hear songs from these bands I just think of him and I can't help but smile. My dad is, has always been, and always will be my best friend.
I played this song in my headphones on the last day of high school It was a surreal moment Beautiful summer day Everyone happy to leave and talking with their friends I just chilled and watched I had to take the moment for myself Now I always think of that day when I hear this song
Apparently My Highschool Had Finished A Band Concert And Blasted This Song Afterwards Through The Speakers Of The Stadium (Where The Football Players Play) I Missed It But I Can Just Imagine How Absolutely BOMB It Was.
Cupcake Nina Absolutely, gives it an extra kick
That sounds beautiful. I love when songs associate with memories
@Kylirr DUDE 39EIA9J2E9SN3 ARE U OK
i just think it’s so amazing how they managed to perfectly embody the feeling of melancholy with this song.
It’s crazy how once every couple of years I come back to this song just to remember the feeling I used to get listening to it
My friends: “who do you have a crush on” Me: “ Cyborg Noodle (2009-2016, reactivated on 2018-) is a robotic replica of Noodle that served as a replacement of her during the third phase of the band. Cyborg Noodle was created by Murdoc Niccals on Plastic Beach from using the real Noodle's DNA samples he gathered from the crash site where the "El Mañana" music video was filmed. This robot clone was given the job of playing the guitar on the "Plastic Beach" album as well as being Murdoc's personal bodyguard. In the music video for the single, "Stylo", Murdoc, 2-D, and Cyborg Noodle were pursued by a law enforcement agent for speeding on an open highway in the Stylo Camaro belonging to Murdoc. Suffering from the bullet hole in her head, Cyborg Noodle became incapacitated with oil coming out after firing several shotgun shells at the police officer's vehicle. The trio were then pursued by an unknown bounty hunter (Bruce Willis) armed with a revolver who lost track of the three when they dive into the Pacific Ocean. Upon their descent into the ocean, Stylo transformed into a shark-like submarine. In the music video for the "On Melancholy Hill" single, Cyborg Noodle regained consciousness inside of the submarine. Upon regaining consciousness, she regurgitated an unusual one-eyed octopus. While the submarine continued its voyage to Plastic Beach, the trio engaged in a rendezvous with the band's collaborators who were also piloting submarines of their own individual design. Upon their arrival at Plastic Beach, the fleet encountered a mysterious assailant known as the Boogieman who was blocking the fleet's route to the studio with a manatee as a hostage. Murdoc, seemingly surprised to see the Boogieman, then ordered Cyborg Noodle to dispose of him with hostile force. The trio then climbed topside where Cyborg Noodle commenced her attack on the Boogieman. After firing two consecutive solid slug shells with her Remington 870, the Boogieman dragged the manatee into the sea and the fog cleared, revealing Plastic Beach. In the storyboard and Fan Made video for the "Rhinestone Eyes" video she is seen shooting at the Boogieman who appears attacking Plastic Beach. She then runs to get more guns and ammo. She is then shown blowing up the door and taking cover behind a tree. Later, on near the end of the video, the now giant Russel comes out of the sea and stares at Cyborg Noodle. Then the real Noodle steps out of Russel's mouth. Cyborg Noodle looks shocked, while the real Noodle pulls off her cat mask showing the bruise on her eye caused by the attack at El Manana. Noodle stares at Cyborg Noodle while the video ends. Although a showdown against Noodle and Cyborg Noodle was never shown it's said in an interview with Murdoc that Noodle killed the cyborg when it started going "wonky" (or she malfunctioned) and tried to kill Murdoc. This was later revealed to be a lie on Murdoc's part, as the Book of Murdoc notes that Cyborg joined Murdoc in his escape, serving as a perfect shipmate on the submarine. My friends: “what the fu-“

Up on Melancholy Hill There's a plastic tree Are you here with me? Just looking out on the day Of another dream Well you can't get what you want But you can get me So let's set out to sea, love 'Cause you are my medicine When you're close to me When you're close to me 🎵🎶🎵🎶 So call in the submarines 'Round the world we'll go Does anybody know, love If we're looking out on the day Of another dream? If you can't get what you want Then come with me Up on Melancholy Hill Sits a manatee Just looking out for the day When you're close to me When you're close to me
This song used to cheer me up on bad days as a kid now as an adult it just reminds me of better days and what I wouldn't give to go back. I'll forever love this masterpiece 💜
"So, what were you thinking for this video? 2D or 3D animation?" Gorillaz: *"yes"*
2D animation ._.XD
is it weird that 2d is always 2d
I see you everywhere.
@Donegal Finn Explor granted too
I was in a bar yesterday and they played this song again. Loved it as a kid. Haven’t heard it in years, I completely forgot it existed

I love how active this comment section is, even after 10+ years of this song being out. Really just goes to show how timeless Gorillaz’ songs can be :)
almost 20 years tbh but 💯
this beat is groovy.
This is literally with every gorillaz song they’re still good after 20 something years
cuz this song is so good
hermosa canción 😢✊
As many amazing songs as Gorillaz have, I'd say this is top five and personally my favorite. It brings out all kinds of feelings with that melody and overall production. 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Que música maravilhosa... me lembra a pegada de "Heroes" do David Bowie. Valeu, Gorilas! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This song gives me a longing for something off in the horizon, but also makes me feel completely at peace
Perfectly encapsulates the melancholy that they’re talking about
This song makes you feel an odd mixture of emotions. It’s a true masterpiece for something that was intended to be ‘Just a pop anthem’
Its just... beautiful
@David Plata go listen to the new music Gorillaz is putting out and youll end up back here in the old stuff. Their new shit sucks.
That’s the illusion that alludes to the cadence and latency of the song
truth! in all languages BR
the best group i ever heard, i definitly love the melancholy of albarne voice on this sweet genius beat, gorillaz is the best group of all time , those guy's really knows how to make real music :mix of sad ,happiness and nostalgia, god bless gorillaz, when i listen all of those song s, the time is frozen , and feel its like the past meet tha future for a short moment...
Remember playing the album on repeat on my little stereo when i was young 11 years already 🤯
This song gives me an indescribably addictive feeling ...
This song makes me feel emotional, but It's a great song and I can't stop listening to it.
A gorillaz show would just be so fucking entertaining
Damon Albarn confirmed movie is coming out in 2023-2024
@AAA Neutron oh because you are
@Nashi-San yeah but he isn't adding anything to conversation
@AAA Neutron Multiple people are allowed to have the same opinion.
thanks for creating this, this song is literally the reason why i can keep living without fearing death. i love this so much from the bottom of my heart. thanks gorillaz
This is such a cool song. Gorillaz is still a great group.
Blur - Song 2
This aged like fine wine. So nostalgic
This song makes me think about being nostalgic in the future
I used to listen to this song as a child with my dad, good memories ♡
A while back, there was this kid in my English class named Noah Fleischhacker. We had an assignment where the teacher picked a student, and then that student picked a song, and we had to analyze the lyrics of said song. She picked Noah. I never really knew Noah well enough to know if he was a hardcore Gorillaz fan, but there was something awfully cheerful about his demeanor when this song played in front of our whole class to know that he loved this song. The next year, he got diagnosed with cancer and missed 3 quarters of the school year. I just stumbled across this song for the first time in probably a year, and I can't help but think of Noah Fleischhacker sitting in the back of our English classroom with a straight face, absorbing every lyric of this song as it played for our class. I don't know what happened to him exactly, but I know he's still out there making the best out of every day. I hope that he (and you, the listener) can find some comfort and solace in music like this during this trying time. UPDATE: My friends convinced me to get Discord the other day and as it turns out, Noah was online on my friend’s server! I didn’t personally ask him about the cancer thing, but my friend said that Noah went through chemotherapy and is doing fine. He seemed normal when I talked to him. And yes, this comment is true.
everytime i hear this song, i think of this comment. i read it a long time ago and this comment just makes me happy for some reason lol
@X__mar__X - 🤓
better than many netflix writers.
Your whole story is bullshit thats all i know
Wow, it's beautiful
i was 9 years old when i discovered this to be one of my favorite songs by Gorillaz. 11 years later, it still is, 💙.
Amazing song 🔥❤️
This is the song I used to listen during high school when I had suicidal thoughts and was heavily depressed. It helped me escape reality for a few minutes. When I listened to this live at Les Vieilles Charues, joy tears were running down my face.
*What a masterpiece.*
This song, and everything about it, is perfect and catchy
Remember listening to this song when I was 12… the nostalgia is insane. It’s just weird that I can never go back

The painful nostalgia in this is almost unbearable for me. I always remember watching this music video with my Mum, it was around 2010, back when Channel 4 used to premiere new music videos late at night... Me and Mum used to always stay up late together, putting the world to rights. She died in 2014. I miss her every single day. I’m more or less alone now. Don’t have anyone now, really. So yeah, listening to this song always brings that moment back, I’m back with my Mum for just a few moments. It can be a painful listen if I’m not ready for it... it’s weird how music can hold so much.
May she rest in piece
Sending you ❤️
So sorry to hear about this.. music is one of the greatest gifts we have remember the good and bad times is what make us xxx
I feel like when we comment with music like this is gets to us and becomes cringe when music is off
If you wanna hang around and just talk, I'm here
Muy buena canción 👌
Escuto desde 2010, nunca envelhece. ❤️
This will always be 🔥 this made my childhood ❤
i was in my 9th grade when this song came out , geez time flies so quick . still the fresh memories but when ever i hear this song im over cloud nine.
I love you Gorillaz. I’ve loved you since I was a little girl. I did my senior art project on your Saturnz Barz music video lol. And now I’m 22 with twins in bed smiling listening to all the old songs that for me through elementary,middle,and high school😭
NO ABLO TACATACA
This song is almost 5 minutes long but when you start listening & get submersed in the sound it feels like it's 2.
So true, to me the video felt so short!
I didn’t even notice it was that long! I mean I guess there’s the intro but it’s not that long
@the illegal seagull ?
@You Muted me you're
Submersed I see what you did there
One of the greatest music videos of my time...
There are songs when you first hear it and the genre is new to you, you just cannot appreciate it. But when you are having those nights where you just want to chill and forget about everything, you will start to appreciate it. This is one of them.
For an Anti-war dude, you seem to have a lot of war like sh!t In your videos...JS. Love your music even though it's a bit hypocritical.
The girl I loved - ADORED this song when I played it for her.... she passed away and it absolutely DESTROYED me when I found out. this song now helps me everyday to stay close to her.
"so is this song meant to be happy or sad?" gorillaz: *yes*
jaajajjaj y si
It's sad probably because of how much pollution there was and the manatee was covered in pollution too. Otherwise Idk.
It's peaceful but also strong in a weird way.
Closest point to being happy for a depressed person
Mi canción favorita ❤️✨
Even after 10 years this album is such high quality
Gorillaz haven't aged a bit. Watching this in 2019 feels the same as always whenever I watch these again and again. It's like a trip to memory lane but you don't get sick of it. Take Note : Don't worry. This will never get old. It's a classic.
Its called nostalgia
That's the power of nostalgia, it's the same feeling how most teenagers don't want to throw away old toys after growing up. Because that was their childhood
A cerifited classic
Dude I feel you I was born in the 2000s I think that time area had some of the best music
for me the point is the ageing itself the older this song gets the stronger the nostalgia
I love this song!
I'm brazilian 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 amazing one of the best songs i've ever heard in my whole life incredible 👌🏻
I literally can't stop listening to this song when I heard it the first time I got this feeling like I've heard it before crazy
For those who want the lore. This is the first time we have seen noodle after we presumed she died. Murdoc made a robot noodle in her absence to help with the bands production. The 2 planes at the start are assumed to be the same 2 that originally "killed her" (The 3d noodle with the bullet in her head is robot noodle) Russell and noodle had nothing to do with the production of this song Russell tried to run from his past and the drums you hear were made by Murdoc after using old recordings of Russell drumming. After kong studios gets destroyed murdoc finds plastic beach which is the island in the video. As he originally arrives plastic beach is just a ton of landfill, so he pains it pink and builds a new hq on top of it. The boogie man is there to collect murdocs soul after murdoc doesnt repay the deal he made with the devil to make gorillaz successful. Edit: The reason Russell is so big is because he dived into the river on a shore far away and has swam all the way to plastic beach, all the chemicals and waste have increased his size The shark they are In is the same car bruce Willis chased them in and once it jumped into the water it turns into the shark sub.

dude the black clouds weren’t who shot down Windmill, they are unrelated
Jll lyu C
R1ptide my question, how did 3D Noodle get a bullet in her head?
As much as I love gorillaz lore, I have to admit, sometimes it seems, like it was written by two MTV generation teens, who just started smoking pot.
I love this song 🥰
Love this one. It reminds me of my daughter ❤️ this is her favorite Gorillaz song. She also loves the Beatles and said this song is like a perfect nod to them.
MY FAVORITE installment of this story. I cannot get over how much I feel the frustration of... "No, not while I'm on this ship; I'll fight you with all I have. I don't care who you are."
Man, this gives me so so so warm feelings. Hope every one feels the same! Happy new year everyone
The song is going to be a decade old in a few months time flies.
@BuggaStar exactly. Earth will be fine in the long run. We may shoot ourselves in the foot. But she has dealt with worst. Not that it excuses our behavior. Just that in the long run...earth will be BRILLIANT.
No doubt. Seems like yesterday. Literally. Too crazy.
😒 don’t remind me I remember the day this came out 😓 I wanna be a teen again good times we’ll never get back
this song makes me feel so many things, sadness and joy have never been so side by side
Since I was a kid I've been listening to Gorillaz, thanks to my cool cousins who introduced them to me.
RIP the guy that was trying to escort Noodle. True hero.
Nooo the guy doesn't care, is that precious f4u-4 coursair
Noodle was protecting them from the pirates that’s why
F to pay respects

Me encanta esta canción....🤩🤩🤩
Love these music videos it’s like the definition of “ man I has a really weird dream last night”
This song brings me back to good times
